The Sunday After

Dear Hope Church Friends and Family,

Part of creating meaningful relationships is holding space for each other's feelings, reactions, and thoughts. As a congregation we care deeply about the rights of all LGBTQ+ people as a starting point. It does not end there, as we are clearly called by Jesus' words in Matthew 25 to care for all marginalized people. The policies (not yet enacted, but) promised by our president elect would cause harm to many vulnerable populations.
I know from dozens and dozens of conversations since Wednesday morning, that many in our church are grieving and sad. Others are ready to identify ways to serve over the next four years and beyond. Many others are living out the ways they have already committed to service.

As a congregation, we're going to start by gathering together for worship online and in-person tomorrow morning at 9:30 and 11. We will remind each other that we are not alone. And we'll consider our corporate and individual responsibilities. All of this will happen in the context of creating meaningful relationships.
