Creating Meaningful Relationships
Dear Hope Friends and Family,
We are going to shift gears for the month of November, and talk about what it takes to create meaningful friendships in our lives (the photo below is my friends Halloween 1976). Studies about how to be happy and how to live a long life and how to deal with anxiety all talk about deep breathing, exercise, and eating healthy. They all also include meaningful friendships as a key component. It's also the hardest aspect.
Last week you all reflected that community and relationships are at the top of your list for why you are part of Hope. So let's talk about what it takes to create those - because it does not automatically happen.
We'll dive right in to the hardest part of it: Communication.
It will be a worthwhile conversation to join whether you are online or in person!
In It With You, Jennie
P.S. Keeping reading to learn about everything happening in worship tomorrow.
All Saints Sunday, Commitment Card Return, Communion
Tomorrow is going to be one of those worship services filled with important rituals - they are all our relationships and community together.
All Saints Sunday: This is the first year Hope is celebrating All Saints Sunday. It is a remembrance of those from our church or close to us who have died in the past year. It will be toward the beginning of the service, with reading of name and lighting of candles.
Communion: The Sacrament of Holy Communion is the reminder that absolutely everyone is invited to Jesus' table - no exceptions.
Commitment Card Return: As people are invited to the Communion table, you have a chance to turn in your financial commitment card. For every card turned in, Hope's leadership council will donate a loaf of bread to Home Sweet Home Mission. It is our goal to donate at least 50 loaves of bread!
As a reminder the commitment card is NOT a pledge card - it will not be entered into any database to be tracked if you are meeting it. It is a spiritual exercise - as well as a helpful understanding of whether we, together, are generally on track to meet our expenses.
