Why? Oct 5, 2024

Dear Hope Friends and Family,
One year ago our congregation had to answer the question of whether we were going to open our doors for good. If you are newer here, please know it was a miracle that we made it to our current location, and I don't use that phrase lightly. You might not "feel" it with varying worship patterns and 2 service times, but we have grown 15% since January!
A year later, without the crisis of place, we get to dive a bit deeper and ask ourselves why? We have been a congregation for 10 years. Though the pandemic required a re-launch, we are no longer a young church. So it is time to explore the same three questions a launch team considered before we even had a name:
  • Why God?
  • Why Church?
  • Why This Particular Church Community?
These are questions I require churches with whom I consult to answer, and I realized that we haven't made space to dig into them ourselves for many years. So much has changed since 2014, including the trust in and relevance of churches. We get to hold up a mirror to ourselves and hopefully feel inspired while we also push ourselves to the margins.
In It With You, Jennie
