Resources for Renewal and More - June 1, 2024

Dear Hope Friends,
Responding to a study that not quite half of all US Americans reported feeling burned out immediately after vacation, we are taking a moment to look into the spiritual resources available to us. Last week we considered the importance of 24 hours of Sabbath in our rhythm of rest and work. Tomorrow we are going to look at additional spiritual resources for finding renewal. We'll consider the 2-hour vacation, pilgrimage as part of travel, and the importance of daily prayer.

I invite you to connect with us in-person or online as we touch on these strategies.

Next Sunday: Guest Preacher Jamie Kaiser!

One of my favorite parts of Hope Church has been encouraging people in their calls to ordained ministry! We've "lost" 8 members over the past 10 years who have gone into full time ministry, we are currently celebrate 4 previous members in seminary (Danii Green, Evergreen Edwards, Isaac Simmons, and Suzy Rivera), and are thrilled to honor Greta Long who just graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary!
We are also blessed that one of our founding members, Jason Kaiser, married the amazing Jamie Kaiser last fall! Jamie already serves in full time ministry AND we are lucky she connects to Hope Church, too. Next Sunday we get to receive her first sermon as a congregation!!
I am thrilled Jamie said yes to God and yes to preaching at Hope. And I get to join you all in the congregation receiving the Word!

Silas on Sundays

If you have not had the opportunity to meet or spend time with relative Hope newcomers, Joel Shoemaker and spouse Andrew McCurdy, you want to! These two men are fun and kind and incredibly creative. Joel is currently sharing his new book "Silas on Sundays", a children's book for Queer-affirming churches, like ours!
We are all invited to his book launch party next Saturday here in Bloomington at Bobzbay Books, 5:30pm to 7pm!

In It With You -- Jennie
